If you
had trouble answering these questions with your Bible it might be because you weren't using the King James Version. I've heard people say all that the other
versions after the KJV are simply an update to the contemporary language at the
time of that particular translation. As you can see that is not true as many
verses are omitted and many of those that are removed are more than just an
update to the language. Many important words are omitted as well. Some changes
make Jesus a sinner, John the Baptist the greatest man ever born even over
Jesus and there are many more changes we will review in future posts. Please
take the time to examine your choice of Bible version because it is important.
If Christ was a sinner as the NIV and other versions make Him out to be then He couldn't have risen from the grave. If He didn't rise from the grave then we
have no hope and we are destined for hell. These “updated” versions are more than
just contemporary language they change the very meaning of verses and in some
cases make the verse the opposite of what it really is.
1. Fill
in the missing words in Matthew 5:44. "Love your enemies,_bless_ them that curse you, __do good_to them that hate you, and
pray for them which despitefully _use you__and persecute you."
2. According
to Matthew 17:21, what two things are required to cast out this type of demon? Prayer fasting
Omitted from NIV
3. According
to Matthew 18:11, why did Jesus come to earth? Save that which was lost
Omitted from NIV – Why omit this verse? It doesn't make sense to
remove this.
4. According
to Matthew 27:2, what was Pilate's first name? Pontius
5. In
Matthew 27:35, when the wicked soldiers parted His garments, they were
fulfilling the words of the prophet. Copy what the prophet said in Matthew
27:35. They parted
my garments among them and upon my vesture did they cast lots
6. In
Mark 3:15, Jesus gave the apostles power to cast out demons and to: _heal sickness___________
7. According
to Mark 7:16, what does a man need to be able to hear? Ears to hear
Omitted from NIV
8. According
to Luke 7:28, what was John? (teacher, prophet, carpenter, etc.). What is his
title or last name? Prophet John the Baptist
NIV - I tell you, among those born of
women there is no one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom
of God is greater than he."
KJV 28 For I say unto you, Among those that are
born of women
there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is
least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.
9. In
Luke 9:55, what did the disciples not know? What manner of spirit they were of
10. In
Luke 9:56, what did the Son of man not come to do? According to this verse,
what did He come to do? not to destroy men’s lives but to save them
NIV - 56 and they went to another village.
KJV - Luke 9:56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's
lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.
Seriously why remove the very purpose of Jesus coming to this
earth.
11. In
Luke 22:14, how many apostles were with Jesus? 12
12. According
to Luke 23:38, in what three languages was the superscription written? Greek, Latin, Hebrew
13. In
Luke 24:42, what did they give Jesus to eat with His fish? honeycomb
14. John
3:13 is a very important verse, proving the deity of Christ. According to this
verse (as Jesus spoke), where is the Son of man? in Heaven
15. What
happened each year as told in John 5:4? An angel troubled the waters in the pool of
Bethesda
16. In
John 7:50, what time of day did Nicodemus come to Jesus? night
17. In
Acts 8:37, what is the one requirement for baptism? Believe with all thine heart
that Jesus Christ is the Son of God
Omitted from NIV
KJV - 37 And Philip said , If thou believest with
all thine heart, thou mayest . And he answered and said , I believe that Jesus
Christ is the Son of God.
Again this is another important verse that has been removed. I know
for a fact that this omission has most certainly caused some doctrinal error on
baptism. Many churches add several other requirements for baptism which are
traditions of men and not backed by the Bible well at least THE KJV Bible. I've been through this situation with a church and even though they used the KJV
they just ignored this verse and had absolutely no answer for me when I
question them about this verse. The NIV eliminates the controversy and allows
men to keep their traditions despite the fact that many of these traditions aren't actually supported by the Bible.
18. What
did Saul ask Jesus in Acts 9:6? Lord, What wilt thou have me do
19. Write
the name of the man mentioned in Acts 15:34. Silas
20. Study Acts
24:6-8. What would the Jew have done with Paul? What was the chief captain's name?
What did the chief captain command? Judged according to their law, Lysias, took Paul away from them,
ordered them to Felix
21. Find
Romans 16:24. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
Omitted from NIV
22. First
Timothy 3:16 is perhaps the greatest verse in the New Testament concerning the
deity of Christ. In this verse, who was manifested in the flesh? God
23. In the
second part of First Peter 4:14, how do [they] speak of Christ? And, what do we
Christians do? their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified
24. Who are the
three Persons of the Trinity in First John 5:7? The Father, The Word, and the
Holy Ghost
NIV- 7 For there are three that testify: WHY?????
25. Revelation
1:11 is another very important verse that proves the deity of Christ. In the
first part of this verse Jesus said, "I am the A__lpha___ and O_mega___, the _beginning_ and the _end__:"
NIV- 11 which
said: "Write
on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna,
Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea."
