TRIBULA'TION, noun 

[Latin tribulo, to thrash, to beat.] Severe affliction; distresses of life; vexations. In Scripture, it often denotes the troubles and distresses which proceed from persecution.


When tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, he is offended.Matthew 13:21.



These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33.
