U'SURERnoun s as z. [See Usury.]
1. Formerly, a person who lent money and took interest for it.
2. In present usage, one who lends money at a rate of interest beyond the rate established by law.
First occurrence in the Bible(KJV): Exodus 22:25 If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.
