BAT'TLEMENT, noun [This is said to have been bastillement, from bastille, a fortification.]
A wall raised on a building with openings or embrasures, or the
embrasure itself.
First occurrence in the Bible(KJV): Deuteronomy 22:8 When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thine house, if any man fall from thence.
